Don’t Skip Stretching: Here’s Why!

We’ve all been there: After a long workout, a hot shower can seem infinitely more inviting than spending 15 minutes stretching – but your body won’t thank you for it in the long run. Here are a few reasons why you should spend some time on the mat to cool down.


To loosen up tight muscles

As you’ve no doubt experienced, when you exercise, your muscles tighten up. Doing some targeted stretching after your workout helps to elongate your muscles, and can also help to reduce pain and stiffness.


To increase your flexibility

Flexibility is an important part of overall fitness and it’s an area you can’t afford to neglect, particularly as you get older – so include stretching in your regular workout routine to keep supple.


To help you relax

Releasing the tension in your muscles as you stretch not only feels good, it also helps to calm and relax your body and mind.
