Flow Hatha

Flow Hatha

The Sanskrit word “hatha” is a combination of “ha,” representing the sun, and “tha,” representing the moon, symbolizing the union of opposing forces. Hatha yoga is for those that are looking for balance in their practice. This practice combines the active engagement of physical postures and the calming effect of intentional breathing techniques. Often termed “the path of balance,” Hatha Yoga is a transformative exploration, guiding you towards a state of serenity where mind, body, and spirit find harmony. At Elixr, our hatha yoga classes are where you can find tranquility and challenge in one place.

Hatha History

Hatha Yoga traces its origins to the 11th-century founder of the Kanphata Yogis, but it grew out of yogic traditions dating back at least as far 2nd century BCE.

Originating in medieval India, Hatha Yoga’s primary text, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, was written in the 15th century by Swami Swatmarama, consolidating various Hatha Yoga practices.

Historically, Hatha Yoga was developed as a stage for higher meditation and spiritual practices. It encompasses a wide range of physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), and cleansing techniques (kriyas) designed to purify the body and mind, promoting overall well-being.
