Yoga Synergy

Yoga Synergy

Yoga Synergy was created and founded by Bianca Machliss and Simon Borg-Olivier in 1993 when they decided to further embrace their yoga journey. They went back to university to study physiotherapy to study more about the body to deepen their knowledge of the body and to develop this practice into what it is today.

The Synergy Vinyasa method emerged from the different yoga styles – Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Hatha in combination with Physiotherapy principles.

There are six unique sequences, each taught progressively over 9 weeks, building to the final flow in the last week.

In the Synergy Vinyasa Method, postures are held for shorter periods, as the emphasis is on active movement and flow. Every posture has a simple and a more challenging version. All students – regardless of strength and flexibility – are encouraged to understand the simple versions of the postures before the more complex versions are attempted. Students can then choose the level of difficulty that suits them, from moment to moment, day to day.

Some of the features of the method include

  • Nerve tension exercises for neck/shoulder/wrist problems
  • Single leg balancing to improve leg strength & core stability
  • Active movements to take your body where it can go to without force
  • Safety releases after more advanced postures to ensure neck and back are taken care of
