Chew On Life

A Memoir by Richard Chew

Richard Chew’s life has been shaped by extraordinary achievements and profound challenges. As a successful entrepreneur, international karate champion, and mentor to professional athletes and business leaders, he has forged a character defined by discipline, drive, and inspiration.

His journey, however, has also tested him in ways that demanded deep resilience—through the darkness of clinical depression, the sting of bankruptcy, and the devastating loss of his 23-year-old daughter, Talena.

What emerges is not merely a record of success or survival, but a story of transformation. In these pages, Richard shares how discipline and resilience together enabled him to cultivate inner strength, wisdom, and a grounded perspective—guided always by the meaning of his Chinese name, Lum Thean: Blue Sky.
