Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture with Yvette
FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE
For Thousands of years, the Chinese have known that beauty comes from the inside.
There is evidence that in the Song Dynasty (960AD-1279AD) Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (FRA) was used on the Empress, the royal court, and the emperor’s concubines.
The Chinese observed the human body and found ways to regulate the energy flow (Qi) within. They saw by harmonising the imbalances, healing would occur. They knew then, thousands of years ago that by increasing blood and Qi circulation to the organs, tissues, and muscles inner health can be achieved. This resulted in a strong immunity, a clear sense of self-worth, and a glossy, bright, and fresh complexion.
The skin in Chinese Medicine is seen as an aspect of the lungs. So, for healthy functioning of the skin, the lungs must be in good health. They see the skin like an outer lung and the pores are seen as the doors of Qi. The skin breathes and exchanges with the outer environment. So dry pale skin can be seen as a lung imbalance. An Acupuncturist will then look at supporting the lungs.
If there is an imbalance in the Spleen the skin may become thin, wrinkled, and easily injured. Imbalances in the Liver, which can easily be affected by stress, usually result in wrinkles developing between the eyebrows.
When an Acupuncturist uses acupuncture for Facial Rejuvenation, it usually involves integrating multiple different techniques, such as Gua sha, cupping, micro-current, dermal rollers, massage, and nowadays LED light therapy. These different techniques are used depending on the individual’s needs. The practitioner will diagnose the patient by asking questions concerning their health and lifestyle etc. and then will feel the pulse and look at their tongue. This will lead to a diagnosis, and a treatment plan will be discussed. Acupuncture points will be used on the body as well as the face.
As FRA is a holistic approach diet and lifestyle advice will be given. Trying to cut down on sugar, alcohol, and coffee and adding more collagen and Vitamin C enriched foods, such as green leafy vegetables and citrus will help in managing one’s health and wrinkles.
Depending on the patient’s age, health, and lifestyle 10 to 15 treatments are recommended initially, and then monthly follow-up treatments are required. Patients tend to see noticeable changes around the 4th session. While the effects may not be as sudden and dramatic as say Botox, the results tend to be more natural, and it not only improves your physical appearance but also enhances your health and beauty from within.
TECHNIQUES USED
Gua sha, cupping, and shallow needling will help to promote blood flow and cellular renewal in the face.
Deeper needling helps with muscle tone and the deeper wrinkles patients have.
Acupuncture needles and Gua sha create small micro traumas. This initialises a natural stimulation of cellular repair, which creates more collagen and elastin production. It can help with tissue elasticity and helps the muscle maintain its optimal function.
In addition to the visible benefits on the face, patients who have FRA may also experience improved sleep quality and reduced stress and anxiety. It’s been proven that Cortisol is linked to breaking down collagen and elastin, when you’re stressed the cortisol disrupts your circadian rhythms and breaks down your skin structure. They are calling it the Brain-skin connection. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone in humans, and it regulates a wide range of stress responses.
In conclusion, FRA not only targets the face but addresses the internal disruptions in the body. By adopting a well-balanced diet and managing stress levels with Acupuncture your whole body can look and feel younger naturally.
